Grilled Pork and Yellow Rice

I didn't feel like baking the pork chops, so I seasoned them with the usual chili powder and grilled them instead. No complaints...

Cupcakes and a Pattymelt

By special request, I made more cupcakes. This time I thought the frosting should be green. And the batter should be pink.

After making this sandwich for myself (LV had regular burgers later), I've decided the best way to clean the Foreman grill is to use a piece of bread. So good.

The Bottom of the Barrel

I actually got to eat this meal while it was hot... Looking around the cabinets, I found a can of yams I didn't use last Thanksgiving. That seemed good enough; grilled chicken and stove top yams. Done.

Burgers!

Again, the lack of interest in publishing this photo is rather apparent in a the lack of focus... However, I do take my burgers seriously.

Grilled Pork and Yellow Rice

I'm getting really tired of pasta. Luckily yellow rice packets have been on sale lately.

Chicken, Pasta, and Pumpkin Turtle Pie

There was a story in Good Housekeeping or on the Today Show about what you can stock in your pantry to make meals more adventurous. It inspired me to put those bottles of lemon juice and capers to use.

There was also an ad for Philly cream cheese and Jell-O pudding and other products that go into making Thanksgiving desserts. I had to make this pie. It's one of those Cool Whip creations that you simply refrigerate (and then decide to not take to your sister-in-law's dinner).

Burgers

You know I'm not really thinking of ever updating my blog again when I take just one lousy picture of what I made... (I think I had also wanted McDonald's for dinner, but LV said he likes my burgers better. And for some reason I was bitter about that.)

Chicken and Pasta

These were some meaty tenders--totally different than the usual thin slice I normally get. This might have been after I started shopping at a new grocery store... Again, total lack of interest in the blog as displayed in the camera shake.

Pork and Lima Beans

LV picked up the latest bag of frozen vegetables. He didn't notice that the blend he picked included lima beans. I thought this was great. I could finally get rid of all the other lima beans I've had in the freezer. (I went a bit nuts investing in beans at the beginning of the pregnancy...) He did not think this was so great, but he also didn't know just how many more lima beans I was throwing into the mix.

Grilled Pork

More spinach! It was a really big bag... And a baked potato. How different.

Burgers!

Something fresh and tasty... with some tator-tots from the freezer...

Grilled Pork

This is one of those meals I didn't bother to document earlier in the summer, but it just looks so darn colorful and cute here, right?

Grilled Chicken Salad

Red onions? I don't remember buying red onions...

Grilled Chicken and Walnut Salad

Ooh, this looks good. So fancy with the baby arugula and all.

Grilled Pork

This has to be my plate. LV is no fan of peas.

Burgers

The local grocer sells ground beef in huge family packs. More ground beef means more burgers...

Burgers

For the Fourth of July, we like to watch the hot dog eating contest on ESPN and eat hot dogs for lunch. (I don't really understand how it's possible considering that we're watching people dunk hot dogs in water and swallow them whole. It's really gross.) Then I grill up hamburgers later in the day. Those are tater tots on my salad.

This year I didn't want to go stand around, waiting for the fireworks (that whole 7 months pregnant thing...), so I told Scrappy to hunt down all the fireworks scenes she could find in her collection of movies. We watched those while we waited for the live fireworks on TV.

Chicken

I like dinners I can make without really thinking, like this grilled chicken topped with Mrs. Dash and served over a bed of farfelle and mixed frozen veggies.

Happy Birthday

Wednesdays are not our day to have dinner with Scrappy, so I suggested they run out and get donuts. (Also, I really wanted to start the day with a doughnut or two.)

For dinner, LV and I went out. I had no idea he wanted to go there for the burgers when there were so many other things on the menu that I had no idea how to pronounce. If this had been last year's birthday, I wouldn't have cared about the dinner menu nearly as much as the beer menu. I can't wait to go back next spring.

Burgers

Mmm... This was a good batch of burgers.

This was me trying to make the frozen green beans more exciting.
